Lord Hutton welcomes Government announcement to build new health centres with private investment
Responding to the announcement by the Government of plans to allow public-private partnerships (PPPs) to build 250 new neighbourhood health centres, Lord Hutton of Furness, who chairs the AIIP, which represents major infrastructure investors said:
“The NAO found that PFI is more likely to deliver on time and on budget. Investors are gearing up to help deliver on the Government’s ambitions. We need scale of projects, in return we can bring speed and high standards of delivery.
We acknowledge that PFI was not perfect, and we have developed recommendations on new models to simplify contractual arrangements, deliver better value for taxpayers and ensure better oversight of contracts.”
